HEC holds orientation workshop for newly appointed Vice Chancellors

ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP): The Learning Innovation Division, Higher
Education Commission (HEC) in collaboration with the British Council organized third orientation workshop for newly appointed heads of higher education institutions at on Friday.
The workshop was organized under HEC's Modern University Governance
Programme.
The basic purpose of the programme is continuous professional
development and capacity building of senior management of higher education instructions, including vice chancellors and other senior management.
Different sessions were held during the day where divisional heads of
HEC explained objectives of their respective divisions, elaborating how university management, faculty and researchers may benefit from various HEC initiatives.
This group of vice chancellors is visiting United Kingdom for
orientation of UK's higher education system.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Executive
Director HEC said, "This visit will provide you an opportunity to see how HEC in UK are managing their administrative and financial affairs and how they facilitate their faculty members and researchers."
Addressing the representatives of private sector universities, he emphasized that for higher education sector of Pakistan to develop, both public and private sector will have to collaborate not only globally but with each other also.
Ms. Nishat Riaz, Director Education, British Council said that HEC and British Council have a common objective for development of higher learning institutions.
She urged the vice chancellors to use this opportunity for building relationships with the wider world.
She assured them that after their return, British Council will keep in touch with them for further strengthening of their institutions.
