QUETTA, Sept 14 (INP): A man was killed and another injured when Rangers personnel opened fire at them during search here on Saturday. The bomb disposal squad (BDS) defused a bomb foiling a terror bid.

According to details, FC personnel during search of a citizen named Saleem in Mizan Chowk of Quetta opened fire at him killing him on the spot while injuring a passerby identified as Deen Muhammad.

The Rangers were of the view that the victim tried to snatch arms after which they opened fire while the eye witnesses rejected the paramilitary troops stance saying only exchange of heated words took place and there was no such scuffle.

The injured was shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for treatment.

The deceased hailed from Bahawalpur and according to his widow they had shifted to Quetta four years ago for employment.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch taking notice of the incident has directed the authorities concerned for inquiry and submitting report soon.

Meawhile, a massive terrorism bid was foiled as police recovered two bombs weighing 20kg which were later defused by BDS.

Police said that the bombs were planted in a vacant plot in Kachlak area by unknown miscreants. The bombs would have caused massive lives and property losses if they would have blasted but timely action foiled the terrorism bid, the police officials said.
