Rajanpur: Train escapes disaster as railway track bomb defused

RAJANPUR Feb 21 (Online): A passenger train escaped disaster when a bomb planted on railway track was defused in Punjab’s Rajanpur district on Friday.

Police said they received information and found a bomb planted on the rail track near Kot Mithan railway station in Rajanpur district, minutes before Karachi-bound Khushhal Khan Khattak Express was pass from the track.

Police called bomb disposal squad which defused the explosive material weighing around 10 kg, official said.

The Rajanpur district of Punjab borders Dera Bugti district of Balochistan.

On Sunday. eight people were killed and several others injured when a powerful explosion on railway track in Kashmore district of Sindh led to the derailment of four bogies of the same train passenger train heading towards Peshawar from Karachi.

Earlier this month, an explosion on tracks near Karachi derailed eight bogies of another passenger train. A minor girl was killed in the terror incident claimed by Baloch Republican Army.
