Senior academicians from Ball State University visits NUML

ISLAMABAD, Nov 06 (Online): A group of three senior Professors from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, USA held a detailed discussion session with faculty members of different departments at National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad.
The three members of the group including Professor Dr Lawrence H. Gerstein, Director, Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, Dr Michael Doyle, Associate Professor Department of History, Professor Dr Maria Staton, English Linguistics and Literature, are presently visiting Pakistan to look into the possibilities of academic collaboration with Pakistani universities and academic institutions.
The group members held group discussion sessions with the faculty members of different departments including English Studies, Pakistan Studies, History and International Relations- Peace and Conflict Studies (IR-PCS) of NUML and explained the scope and perspectives of different departments of their university. Dr Lawrence told that “At Ball State, we're more than just educators, we're educational entrepreneurs. Combining top-flight talent with the top-notch resources we have to offer, our students and faculty inject endless energy and creativity into what they teach and how they learnâ€.
He said “to fulfill our mission of fundamentally changing our students, researchers, and external partners, we offer comprehensive academic opportunities, including about 180 undergraduate majors and pre-professional programs and more than 100 master's and doctoral degreesâ€. “Our programs in Education, Psychology, History, Peace and Conflict Studies and English consistently ranked among the best in the nation, he added.
DG NUML Brig Azam Jamal, while speaking at the occasion, said NUML has different academic partnerships with different American universities but this visit offers us a golden opportunity to look beyond the parameters of partnership held under the auspices of US Government. This interactive session will help us to strengthen our relations with other American universities and strengthen our teaching and research departments with their cooperation.
Dr Sheena Ayub Bhatti, Associate Professor, Head of Research and Publication Cell, while speaking at the occasion said that we are looking forward to our collaboration with Ball State University and this will help our faculty and students to widen their theoretic as well research spectrum in their specific areas of interest.
The Session was attended by Dr Nighat Ahmed, Head of English Studies Department, Ms Ambreena Qayyum, Assistant Professor English Studies, Dr ZA Qureshi, Head of IR-CPS Department, Dr Sufiana Khatoon, Assistant Professor Education Department and other faculty members of different departments.
