Pak army retaliates unprovoked Indian firing on its checkpost

SIALKOT, Oct 20 (Online): Indian troops on Sunday resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling on Pakistani check posts across the border in Punjab’s Sialkot sector. However, no causality was reported.

Security officials said the Indian security forces used light weapons and resorted to heavy mortar shelling on the Pakistani check posts in Sialkot’s Bajwat sector and civil areas.

Chinab Rangers retaliated in a befitting manner silencing the Indian guns, officials said.

No fatality was reported in Sunday’s hour-long firing and shelling which is continued since Wednesday in different sectors of Sialkot, targeting civilian areas and claiming lives of two Pakistani soldiers besides loss of properties.

Pakistan and India had declared a ceasefire in 2003. However, Indian troops’ violation of the ceasefire has become a routine now causing great tension at the LoC.
