At least 14 dead, 25 injured in road accident in Mastung


MASTUNG, Oct 07 (INP): At least 14 people including two police personnel died and 30 others sustained injuries, some among them seriously, when a passenger bus collided with a van on Quetta-Sibbi Highway at Tera Mail location in Dasht area of Mastung District on Saturday.


According to local administration, the passenger bus was enroute to Sibbi from Quetta when it collided with the van. The van's passengers were mostly young men on their way to a picnic, the administration said.


The van's driver died on the spot while there is no information about the whereabouts of the bus' driver yet.


The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, Quetta for treatment, and the bodies were shifted to the hospital, rescue sources said


Five of the injured were said to be in critical condition in the hospital's trauma centre.


Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has expressed his condolences with the families of the deceased and mourned the loss of lives in the accident.


Chief Minister Balochistan Sanuallah Zehri also expressed condolences with the affected families and directed authorities concerned to provide best medical facilities to the injured.
