Senate Sub Committee on Information Technology, Telecommunication meets

QUETTA May 4 (PPI): Provincial government along with federal government has to taken steps for removing Baluchistan’s backwardness and deprivation. Balochistan is half of Pakistan areawise but owing to small population province is comforted with several problems of telecommunication. Federal government and information Technology Department should spare no effort to bring Balochistan at par with other provinces.
This was stated by Convenor Senate Sub Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication Taj Muhammad Afridi while chairing meeting here Thursday.
Senator Dr Ghaus Muhammad Niazi, Additional Chief Secretary Dr Omar Babar, Secretary Finance Akbar Durrani, Secretary Home Dr Akbar Harifal, Deputy Commissioners Sibi, Killa Saifullah and Musakhel attended the meeting.
Meeting reviewed various matters relating to installations of telecommunication towards in Balochistan.
A briefing was conducted on problems of telecommunication and their solution. It was said that in remote areas of the province Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and tribal leaders would be taken into confidence for installation of telecommunication towards. Where there is complaint of optic fibre or tower it would be redressed on emergency basis with their help.
Committee was told that such measures were not taken in Balochistan which were needed to law and order situation. Now situation has improved greatly during past three years and soon fibre optic would be laid in remote areas of the province. Towers would be put on air in areas where there is problem of optic fibre.
Senator Taj Afrid said that when there is law and order situation in any area provincial government and district administration should take necessary steps for security of telecommunication towers and fibre optic.
He said deputy Commissioners of some districts and FC could not attend today’s meeting due to engagement in census process. Soon a meeting would be called in this regard.
