Freezing spell grips Quetta, Northern Balochistan

QUETTA Feb 5 (PPI): Freezing spell gripped Quetta and northern Balochistan Sunday following widespread rains and snowfall in major parts of the province.

Minimum temperature slashed to minus 6 Celsius today while maximum remained at 5 Celsius. Minimum temperature fell to minus 10 Celsius in Kalat.

People were facing great difficulties due to low press or displace of gas.

Record snowfall this year has badly affected routine life in the area of snowfall. There is severe cold in Chaman and Kalat. People were confined to their houses. Due to severe snowfall several roads wee blocked for traffic in Toba Achakzai, Toba Kakari, Kan Mehterzai and Ziarat. Kozhak Top was also blocked due to heavy snowfall.

Upper areas were cut off with main cities and there was shortage of food items there. Electricity poles and transmission liens were also affected.

Met office has forecast cold and dry and partly cloudy weather during coming 24 hours.
