QUETTA Jan 30 (PPI): Conducting census is constitutional requirement which the government has to fulfill in every circumstance. We do not support including any foreigner in the census but would also allow postponement of census on the basis of foreigners.
This was stated by President Awami National Party (ANP) Balochistan Asghar Achakzai while addressing a Pres conference here Monday.
He was flanked by Deputy Opposition Leader in Balochistan Assembly Engineer Zamrak Achakzai, provincial secretary General Haji Nizamuddin and others.
Asghar Achakzai said that at Party’s provincial Committee meting on January 28, several matters were discussed. Our stance on census is very clear. Holding census in the country after 10 years is constitutional responsibility and rulers have to fulfill it. After along period census was going to be held. If people were deprived it would be great injustice. Our stand is very clear that rulers must conduct census in every case so that province get their full share in distribution of resources. He said if any body has reservations and apprehensions over census removing them are also responsibility of the government. But it should not be postponed on the basis of their reservations.
He said CPEC which is considered a project of progress and prosperity of our people along with the country and entire region but Pashtoons were being ignored in Balochistan and Khyber Pashtoonkhwa. At a meeting in China about CPEC ongoing projects of Sindh and Punjab ere made part of CPEC but the projects promised with us were not taken into consideration. Development of sense of deprivation is must. Prime Minister must ensure inclusion of our projects in CPEC.
Asghar Achakzai said it is regretful that our decagons were being taken by Ahsan Iqbal and Ishaq Dar.
He said law and order situation in the province is not hidden t any body. Some parties in the government always claimed that law and order has become exemplary after their coming into power but we have seen several incidents during three and half years including August 8 incident, Police training College Incident and Shah Noorani Shrine incident. Abduction for ransom is very common in Chaman and all these incidents were being conducted under a conspiracy aimed at foiling CPEC in Balochistan.
He said NADRA was unnecessarily harassing Pashtoon people. There is some other policy for issuance of identity card in the country but for Pashtoons it is different. We would not allow deprivation of identity cards on the pretext of foreigners.
He said awareness campaign would be launched in the province about census from February 12 to 20 and a public meeting would be organised in Killa Saifullah on February 24.
Answering a question ANP leader said creating hurdles in the way of census is beyond understanding. It would benefit biggest province. We do not want delay of census on any condition.
