Enforcement of Emergency decided

QUETTA Jan 18 (PPI): A high level meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has decided to enforce emergency in the districts of Mastung, Killa Abdullah, Killa Saifullah, Harnai and Ziarat and directed PDMA, district administration and concerned institutions to make relief activities in these district further effective. District administration has also been directed to carry our survey of losses and damages caused by rains and snowfall and submit report.
Chief Minister has also approved release of Rupees 150 million for PDMA for providing food items, tents and blankets and other necessary items to the affectees.
He took this decision at a high level meeting held here Wednesday.
Provincial Ministers Sarfraz Bugti, Obedullah Babat, Muhammad Khan Lehri, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, MPA Abdul Karim Nosherwani, Senior MBR, Secretary Home, Secretary Agriculture, Secretary Communication, Secretary Finance, DG PDMA, Commissioner Quetta Division, IG Police, Chief Executive QESCO and NHA Officials attended.
Meeting was told that PDMA at the provincial level, Commissioners at Divisional level an Deputy Commissioners at District level would monitor relief activities and all the concerned quarters would take part in activities in an coordinated manner.
Meeting appreciated administration, Levies and Frontier Corps and other quarters for their performance for timely assistance of passengers stranded along highways and keeping traffic moving.
Meeting accorded approval for providing heavy machinery for meeting any emergency effectively.
Concern was expressed that national highways are 60 percent in Balochistan of total highways but National Highway Authority has no funds and machinery for meeting emergency situation. It was decided that federal government would be approached in this regard.
Meeting directing for emergency measuring for supply of District Kill Abdullah, Pishin, and other affected districts and asked district administration for extending cooperation to QESCO in this regard.
DG PDMA told that ration, blankets and tents have been provided to affectees in Dasht and Kharan.
Meeting expressed satisfaction that blankets and food was provided to scores of passengers stranded along highways blocked by snowfall in time and no act of terrorism took place in the meanwhile.
Chief Minister in his address said that Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, PDMA and concerned quarters took immediate action due to situation arisen following snowfall and that led to improving the situation. This he added depicts good governance in the province.
He said he appreciated administration, Levies, Police and FC in this regard and hopes they would show such a good performance onward bringing good name to provincial government and institutions.
He said all resources of the provincial government would be utilized for resolving problems of people. He said snowfall and rains are blessings of Almighty Allah in Balochistan ending long dry spell and we thank Allah for this.
