Rice growers, zamidnars block National highway

JAFFARABAD Oct 29 (PPI): Zamidnars and growers of Balochistan while strongly protesting against reduction in prices of Shali (rice) blocked national highway and by pas simultaneously and staged a dharna here Thursday. Traffic between Balochistan and rest of the country remained suspended for hours.
According to details on the call of Zamindar Association Jaffarabad thousands of growers and zamidnars from Usta Muhammad, Gandakha, Khanpur, Faizabad, Sohbatpur, Adam Pur, and others small and big cities and towns reached Dera Allah Yar on their tractor trolleys, buses, wagons and Datsuns and staged a dharna at Zero Point along National highway and blocked national highway and by pass at a time. They shouted slogans against provincial government.
Former prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali, former federal minister Changez Jamali, former speaker Balochistan Assembly Zahoor Hussain Khosa, ex MPA Hyder Ai Jamali and others in their speeches said that federal government has reduced prices of rice to a great extent and conspired to destroy this industry. Due to reduction in prices zamidnars have reached to become bankrupt. They said record bumpber crop has been prepare din the area but zamidnars due to reduction in prices were not selling it in open market.
Zamindars announced to hold full protest in Quetta next week and decided to stage protest in Islamabad under next phase.
Keeping difficulties of passengers Zafarullah Jamali appealed to call off dharna and Zamidnar Association ended its protest and opened road for normal traffic.
