Historic Sibi mela to open tomorrow

SIBI(PPI): Historic Annual mela at Sibi would begin Saturday. All arrangements have been firmed up. Security has been tightened. City has been tastefully decorated. Mela would continue till March 12.
Full length photographs of President of Pakistan, Prime Minster, Balochistan governor, Chief Minister provincial ministers and others have been installed.
This was stated by Chairman Organising Committee for Sibi Mela and Deputy Commissioner Sibi Sohailur Rehman while talking with PPI here Thursday.
He said centuries old historic Sibi festival would get underway from Saturday. All arrangements for it have been finalized. Tradition for organising mela was laid by Baloch general Sardar Chakar Rind. Its importance increased when tribes from all over Balochistan resolved their disputes at Sibi mela and express happiness. They also used to sell and purchase their animals on the occasion.
Sibi is historic city of Balochistan very well known for its hospitality and hot weather. Livelihood of businessmen and animal holders is also associated with Sibi Mela while cultural programmes also promote our national Culture.
After advent of Pakistan Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah also graced Shahi Darbar.
Sohailur Rehamn told that some new and special items have been included in the mela while special programmes have also been organised for women and children. He said all traditional programmes have also been included.
Sibi mela celebrations are agriculture and industrial exhibition, flower show, horse and cattle show, animals parade, animals show, motorcycle jump, musical night, tent pegging by cadet college students, local artistes show, paragliding by Pak Army jawans, Meena bazaar for women, children shown for children, sports and speech contests among school children, Nat Khwani competition etc.
He said Sibi Mela is not name of games or circus etc. it is name of Pakistan?s important occasions.
He said Anti Corruption would also set up its stall where people could be known which departments are involved in corruption and what steps were being taken against them. How provincial government was taking measures to stop corruption.
