QUETTA: The Chief Secretary Balochistan, Saifullah Chattha has said that polio is an incurable disease and as such there is a dire need to work for its eradication on the war footing grounds.
He was chairing a meeting on prevention of the polio disease in Deputy Commissioner Office, Loralai the other day.
The Commissioner Zhob Division, Kazim Niaz Khan, Regional Police Officer (RPO), Zulfiqar Ali, Additional Commissioner, Talha Hussain Faisal, Deputy Commissioner Loralai, Shah Zaib Kakar, Deputy Commissioner Killa Saifullah, Amir Sultan, Deputy Commissioner, Barkhan, Abdul Mateen, Additional Secretary to Chief Secretary, Zahid Saleem, District Police Officer, Muhammad Azam Jamali, ADC (Revenue), Muhammad Aslam Soomro, ADC (General) Sher Shah Ghilzai, Assistant Commissioner Bori, Taha Saleem Qureshi, District Health Officer, Loralai, Dr. Nasarullah Ghilzai, doctors of different union councils and other concerned officials.
The Chief Secretary stressed the need to convince the parents refusing to get their children vaccinated against the crippling disease, and even then they are not motivated, legal action may be taken against them, he directed.
He also directed to vaccinate the children forcefully so that they may not suffer from the virus due to the foolishness of their parents.
He also stressed the need to seek the public cooperation during the polio immunization campaign. The Chief Secretary on the occasion directed to the UC Medical Officers and monitors to discharge their duties with dedication and responsibility so as to achieve the target of immunization.
He hoped that the masses of Zhob division would play their wholehearted role in eradication of polio virus.
He also appealed to the tribal elders and religious leaders to play their effective role in the campaign too and motivate the parents refusing to the immunization.
The Chief Secretary was also presented the report of different areas. He expressed his satisfaction over the reports.
He directed to set up transit points at different points for polio immunization.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary was also briefed about the law and order situation particularly with focus on the educational institutions in the Zhob division.
He expressed quite satisfaction over the security arrangements made.
He said that the peaceful and secure environment is unavoidable for continuing the educational process.
He directed to the district administration and police to improve further the security of educational institutions making them more effective.
