Customs seize 70 m foreign cloth, Charas, tyres

QUETTA Jan 3 (PPI): Customs Quetta seized huge foreign cloth, tyres and Charas and impounded tow trucks. No arrest was made.
This was stated by Collector Customs Zahoor Akhtar Raja at a briefing here Saturday.
He said Customs was striving to stop smuggling of drugs and other goods day and night because drugs were smuggled to Iran and to other countries by sea.
He said at the start of new year Customs staff on an information impounded a truck at Baleli Check Post along with FC and recovered 100,000 metres of high quality foreign cloth, more than 300 tyres valued at Rupees 50 million.
Collector Customs said in another action Customs staff signaled a suspected truck to stop but the driver speeded up his vehicle and disappeared in the nearby population. Truck was impounded and searched. It led to seizure of 1253 Kilograms of Charas hidden in secret cavities. It valued at Rupees 18 million in the international market. He said no arrest was made in both the actions.
He said Customs staff during four month of the current financial year seized 475 Kg heroin, 123 Kg Morphine, 27 Kg Opium which is the biggest seizure of Quetta history.
He said Chairman FBR and Member customs while appreciating this seizure have given commendations certificates to the staff.
