Chief Secretary pledges to make Balochistan polio-free at all cost

QUETTA: Chief Secretary Balochistan, Saifullah Chattha has said that we have to eradicate polio virus from the province and the country at all cost.
He was addressing a meeting held to review the situation of Polio in the province the other day. Those who were in attendance were included: Provincial Secretary for Health, Akbar Hussain Bugti, Secretary Education (Schools), Abdul Saboor Kakar, Secretary Irrigation, Naseebullah Bazai, Commissioner Quetta, Kambar Dashti, Additional Inspector General of Police, Shehzada Sultan, Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Abdul Latif Kakar, representative of the World Health Organization (WHO), besides other concerned officials.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary said that polio disease paralyzing the children. He stressed the need to adopt concrete measures for prevention of the disease.
He said that it is our national and moral obligation to eradicate the polio virus as such we have to strive hard in this regard.
He said that it is included in the top priority of the government to provide full security and transport to the anti-polio workers in the province.
He said that as the local bodies elections are in their last phase of completion and they would be completed by the end of this month. He said that after completion of the local bodies elections, the elected representatives would also take part in the anti-Polio campaign in the province.
He directed to the Secretary Health to make the polio campaign success making concerted efforts and mobilizing all the resources available.
He warned that no negligence would be tolerated in the campaign. The performance report regarding eradication of polio was also presented in the meeting.
