Campaign to promote quality education at grassroots in Punjab

LAHORE, September 17 (Online): A comprehensive campaign has been launched under the supervision of chief minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to promote quality education at the grassroots so that no one is left uneducated. The basic purpose of the
campaign is to extend the fundamental right of education to each and every child in Punjab.

It’s aimed to improve the quality of life of poor and
deserving children through provision of education and thus enabling the educated youth to bring a positive social change with their dedicated leadership.

In this regard, Punjab education foundation is playing a leading role in the promotion of school education with its model of public private partnership. We have planned to bring back 40 lakh youth of 6-16
years of age to schools which will work in coordination with Punjab education foundation.

It would be the biggest drive against illiteracy.
It’s hoped that illiteracy will be completely rooted out from the province as a result of education sector reforms of the Punjab government because
these are directly supervise by the chief minister Shahbaz Sharif who have a passion for education.

Managing Director Punjab education foundation Nawazish Ali stated this while addressing the district coordination meeting of various schools partnered with the PEF under its foundation assisted school program in the districts of Sargodha, bhakkar, khushab, mianwali and chiniot at a local hotel today. Besides FAS officials, the meeting was largely attended by
school heads, teachers and students.

Addressing the function, the PEF-MD said that Punjab government was giving special importance to the promotion of education as it’s the first step
towards collective prosperity and social development of the nation. He said that FAS being the flagship program of the foundation was giving free
education to 12 most deserving children in Punjab and good thing is that half of them are girls.

PEF was given Rs. 7.5 billion during the current
fiscal year to promote gratis education and this would illuminate the society with the light of education in every nook and corner of the
province.

Nawazish Ali said that Punjab government’s school enrollment drive was proving effective and useful for the poor communities as it has rekindled hope in them. He told that more than 57 lakh boys and 48 lakh girls have been enrolled in Punjab government schools as a result of this enrolment drive. He asked the partner schools to prepare their students as talented
and confident leaders to develop Pakistan as a prosperous and modern state in the world.

Later, he distributed cheques among students and school heads that showed good results in PEC exams. Earlier, Director FAS Nadeem Masood presented
address of welcome and highlighted the role of FAS in the promotion of school education.
