Two killed, 18 injured in bomb blast

QUETTA, May 8 (APP): At least two persons were killed and 18
others, including a woman, injured when a bomb, affixed with
motorcycle parked at Double Road, went off Thursday evening.
According to police, some unknown men had parked the motorcycle
laden with explosives on the footpath. One person died on the spot
and 19 others sustained injuries due to the explosion. One of
the injured succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
Rescue teams, including Eidhi volunteers, shifted the dead and
injured to Civil Hospital. Some of the injured were later taken to
Combined Military Hospital due to their serious condition.
Some injured were stated to be in critical condition.
Some nearby shops were damaged, while windowpanes of other
shops and nearby houses were smashed due to the blast. Three
vehicles and many motorcycles were also destroyed.
The Fire Brigade tenders were moved to the blast site to
extinguish fire erupted after the explosion.
The law enforcement agencies, including Frontier Corps and
police, cordoned off the entire area and launched a search
operation to trace the suspects.
It may be mentioned that Double Road is a commercial area
having auto showrooms, motor garages, spare parts shops, carpets
stores and others.
