Complaint submitted in PEMRA against GEO News TV

ISLAMABAD, April 22 (Online): An application has been filed in Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) against a private media group (Geo News TV) for violating PEMRA rules on 19th of this month.

The complainant, journalist Khushnood Ali Khan in his application stated that Geo News TV on April 19 violated PEMRA rules, when after shooting of its anchor person Hamid Mir in Karachi, the said TV channel and its employees without any concrete evidence.

As it blamed and held the Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Armed Forces of Pakistan responsible for the shooting and murder attempt of Mir.

The application further stated that ISI and Armed Forces of the state are vested with the task of safeguarding the security and integrity of the country and any attempt to falsely malign them is prejudicial to the security and integrity of Pakistan.
