Taliban owe explanation over ceasefire: Yusufzai

PESHAWAR, 19 Feb (Online): Member governmental dialogue team, Rahim ullah Yusufzai has said that dialogue process was not yet terminated, while Taliban owed government an explanation over Mehmand Agency and ceasefire.

Talking to media on Wednesday, he also said that these two issues would have to be deliberated over by Taliban Shoora, before any formal approval; however there had been no contact with Taliban as yet, but such can happen sooner, even on informal basis.

“Government has decided over no more efforts on its behalf for formal talks, and any initiative would have to be from Taliban side”, he stated.

Yusufzai also denied having any contacts with Mullah Umar and Afghanistan based Taliban, but however after final the decision of ceasefire, cooperation of all Taliban including Mullah Umar would also be sought.

“Any failure over Taliban to deliver the required explanations from Taliban could end the dialogue process’ ,he cautioned , adding that so far there had be no decision about starting operation against Taliban.
