Gas pipeline blown up in Balochistan

DERA BUGTI, FEB 15 (Online): Unidentified miscreants blew up a gas pipeline in Dera Bugti area of Balochistan on Saturday.
Some miscreants exploded eight inch diameter gas pipeline in Zain Koh area of Balochistan's district Dera Bugti, which suspended gas supply to several areas in the region.
Sui gas field in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan is the biggest natural gas field in Pakistan. The gas field was discovered in the late 1952 and the commercial exploitation of the field began in 1955.
Repeated attacks on supply lines of natural gas from Sui gas field to rest of the country has become an order of the day.
Recent bomb blasts at three major gas pipelines in Rahimyar Khan in southern Punjab disrupted gas supply to industries and domestic consumers in several parts of the province.
An outlawed separatist group Balochistan Republican Army (BRA), had claimed responsibility of the series of the gas pipeline blasts.
Balochistan, the southwestern province of Pakistan, has been a hotbed of the nationalist militancy demanding rights on the natural sources of the mineral rich province.
