Political, army leadership needs to adopt a joint strategy for peace in Balochistan: PM

QUETTA, Jan 30 (Online): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that political and army leadership needs to adopt a joint strategy for lasting peace in the restive province of Balochistan.

He expressed these views during his visit to Corps Headquarter here on Thursday, He was accompanied by Governor Balochistan‚ Muhammad Khan Achakzai‚ Chief Minister Dr Abdul Maalik‚ Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Head of Pakhtunkhwa Awami Milli Party Mehmood Kahn Achakzai, Gen retd Abdul Qadir Baloch and Mir Hasal Khan Bazingo.

On the occasion Commander Southern Command Nasir Khan Janjua gave a detailed briefing on the situation and security in Balochistan.

PM also exchanged views with the provincial govt and national leadership regarding the situation in Balochistan. PM on the occasion lauded the role of security forces for their efforts of peace in Balochistan and said that forces are playing their role to ensure the protection of the lives of the public.
Prime Minister early on Thursday arrived in Quetta and offered fateha for the martyrs. He paid rich tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for peace and elimination of terrorism.
Prime Minister has laid the foundation stone of four highway projects in Quetta.
The projects include M-8 motorway connecting Gwadar‚ Turbat and Khushab‚ National Highway N-50 between Qilla Saifullah and Zhob‚ N-25 connecting Qalat‚ Quetta and Chaman‚ and N-85 between Sorab and Khushab.
