Shangla twin blasts claim lives of 5 security men, PML-N’s Ameer Muqam escapes

SHANGLA, Jan 12 (Online): Twin bomb blasts, Sunday, claimed lives of six security officials deployed on the security of Prime Minister's Advisor Ameer Muqam in village Martung of Shangla district.

According to DIG Malakand Abdullah Khan‚ two blasts were exploded near Ameer Muqam's vehicle; however‚ the PML-N leader remained safe in the attack.

He said the Amir Muqam, who has survived many such attacks, was on his way to Shangla from Swat when his convoy met the incident.

The DIG said the vehicle was targeted with a remote controlled Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The blasts left six security officials dead‚ while two others injured. The security van escorting the convoy was damaged in the attack.

Reports say Amir Muqam was in the area for local bodies electioneering.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned Shangla blasts. In his message‚ he expressed his sorrow over the loss of precious lives.
