PM meets top army generals ahead of key appointment

ISLAMABAD, Nov 27 (ONline): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday held important meetings with key generals of the Pakistan Army ahead of the appointment of new Chief of the Army Staff.

Media reports said that the PM Sharif met separately Lieutenant General Rashid Mehmood and Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif.

Both the generals are considered amongst the top contenders for the coveted slot.

They discussed professional matters and the issues relating to the national security, according to official media.

Lt. Gen. Mehmood is currently the chief of general staff and he has also served as GOC and Corps Commander Lahore. Lt. Gen. Sharif is currently IG Training and Evaluation.
