Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator increased by 0.61 pc

ISLAMABAD, Nov 01 (online): The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on October 31, for the lowest income group up to Rs 8, 000 registered an increase of 0.61 percent as compared to the previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 202.61 points against 201.38 points registered in the previous week, according to data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007-2008=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
The SPI for the combined group recorded increase of 0.47 percent and reached at 210.78 points which stood at 209.79 points in previous week.
As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs.8001-12,000, 12,001-18,000, 18001-35,000 and above Rs.35, 000 increased by 0.56 percent, 0.53 percent, 0.48 percent and 0.39 percent respectively.
During the week under review average prices of 07 items registered decrease, while that of 13 items increase with the remaining 33 items' prices unchanged.
The items which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included Bananas, Chicken live, Garlic, Gur, onions, Masoor Pulse washed and Moong Pulse washed.
The items which recorded increase in their average prices included tomatoes, potatoes, sugar, LPG 11kg cylinder, rice Basmati broken, wheat, veh Ghee loose, firewood, wheat flour bag, egg hen (Farm), veg ghee (TIN), Gram pulse washed and Mash Pulse washed.
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included Rice IRRI, bread plain, beef, mutton, Milk fresh, curd, milk powered NIDO, mustard oil, cooking oil (TIN), salt powered loose (LAHORI), Red chillies powered loose, tea prepared, long cloth, shirting, Georgette, sandal ladies bata, electric charges, kerosene oil, Energy savor 14 watts, washing soap, match box, petrol, diesel, tele LOCAL CALL and Bath soap lifebuoy(standard).
