Dozens of shops gutted in mysterious fire

HARNAI Oct 18 (PPI): Over three doozens shops were burnt while several others were partially damaged in a mysterious fire what engulfed the area here second day of Eidul Azha Thursday. This is fourth major incident of fire in the area.
According to details a fire broke out a shop in the heart if this town last afternoon. Due to strong winds and in the absence of fire brigade in the area flame rose high and several shops caught fire. Shopkeepers and others did their bet to control he fire.
Some peole remained busy in making movie of the fire while others looted chicken, shoes and others goods. Nearly three dozen shops including hotel, fruit, vegetable, chicken seller, clothes, shoes whole sale shops were burnt causing tens of millions of losses to the shopkeepers. Since most the shops ere closed and it was day time there was no human loss.
During the past two decades four major incidents of fire have taken place in the area. There is need for establishing fire brigade, suitable increase in police strength and other facilities should be provided to avoid major losses form fire. Only 30 police men are working in this small city who cannot control such a major incident.
Meanwhile provincial minister Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal while expressing regret over the incident has directed Deputy Commissioner to carry out survey of the losses and submit report in this connection.
Deputy Commissioner Harnai Yassar Khan visited the site and constituted a committee headed by DPO to pinpoint causes of fire. He also directed Revenue staff to prepare a report to assess the losses. He said step would be taken to redress problems of affectees.
