Eidul Azha celebrated with religious enthusiasm

ISLAMABAD, Oct 16 (APP): Eidul Azha was celebrated
across the country with religious fervour and enthusiasm
in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice offered by
Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) in the
fulfillment of the Divine order.
Eidul Azha is celebrated on the 10th of Zil Hajj,
that marks the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
Muslims all over the world slaughter animals on this day and
draw inspiration from the unique example of sacrifice set by
Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
Special congregations were held in the morning at mosques, Imambargahs and open places to offer Eid prayers. Ulema and
religious scholars, in their sermons on the occasion, stressed
for the unity of Muslim Ummah. Prayers were held for the prosperity,
solidarity, and integrity of the country and for the liberation of
occupied territories, including the Indian Held Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ulema also highlighted the significance of the day and the
sublime objective of the sacrifice rendered by Prophet Hazrat
Ibrahim (AS) centuries ago.
Strict security arrangements were made across the country.
Personnel of law enforcement agencies were deployed at public places, mosques and Eidgahs and important buildings in adequate numbers to
thwart any untoward incident.
Policemen in plain clothes as well as in uniform performed
duties at Eid congregations for the security of faithfuls.
In Rawalpindi, the faithfuls offered Eid prayers at over 652
mosques, 73 Eidgahs, and 67 Imambargahs, besides open places.
Over 4,000 policemen had been deployed at various areas of twin
cities. More than 400 wardens performed traffic management duties in the
Rawalpindi ensuring hassle free Eid celebrations.
The biggest Eid congregation in Federal Capital was held at Faisal
Mosque where thousands of faithfuls offered prayers and sought the
blessings of Almighty Allah.
Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration had deputed 875
policemen and 15 teams of anti-terrorism force (ATF) commandoes to perform
security duty in 685 mosques and 40 Imambargahs in the city.
Besides police and commandoes, 1140 private guards also performed
security duties outside the mosques and imambargahs.
In Lahore Eid prayers were offered in all major mosques
of the city with main congregations at Badshahi Masjid and Data
Ganj Bakhsh Masjid, Jamia Naeemia, Mansoora, and open places.
In Karachi, Eid prayers congregations were held at
over 1000 Eidgahs, mosques and grounds of the city. The
main congregations were held at Nishtar Park, Memon Masjid, Jamia
Binnoria, Gulshan-e-Jinnah, National Stadium and Eidgah Nazimabad.
In Peshawar, major Eid prayers congregations were
held at Markazi Eidgah, Sunehri Masjid and Masjid Mahabat Khan.
In Quetta, Eid prayer congregations were held at
over 350 places. Main prayers were held at Eidgah Toghi Road
and Alamdar Road. Eidul Azha was also celebrated in Gilgit-
Baltistan.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, main Eid congregation was held at
Central Eidgah in Muzaffarabad.
After Eid prayers, the faithfuls slaughtered camels,
heifers, goats, rams and sheep to revive the Sunnah of
Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). The process will continue
till Friday evening.
Several NGOs and charity organizations made special
arrangements to collect animal hides.
